  1. Indoor Course Being Retired and the new Indoor Course will be underway soon. Veteran ScalerFab Team Driver Adam Nerby informs us of the retirement of the existing Indoor course and the plans on the rebuild during the summer! Well last weekend I have to say sadly I hosted my last comp on my indoor course, the turnout was lighter than previous comp but still a good one. I am going to be hand building a new course for the next winter season over the summer. As a club we have lots of new driver's joining us this year with all of them asking new questions on what t...
  2. Just Go Drive It! As ScalerFab Team Driver, Oliver Barber knows, it doesn't need to be perfect to go out and have fun! I’m sure I’m not alone in this; I’ll have a number of projects on the go, and one fully functional truck, and then something breaks on the working truck, or I decide to do a rebuild, change something major to make it work better, etc. Whatever the case, I’m now without anything to drive or a few weeks until I slowly finish up another project or get around to “properly” fixing the original...
  3. There's more to do in Las Vegas than the Strip! Crawl along with ScalerFab Team Driver, Matt Wolfe and his ScalerFab Trail Armor. Matt Wolfe here in the fabulous Las Vegas Valley. Over the last few weeks I have put the ScalerFab Trail Armor to the test. First stop was the A.V.R.C.C. Mini Enduro. Where I took on many jagged rocks and tough terrain over a 6 hour period, The ScalerFab Trail Armor did not fail me. Next stop, the next weekend was the KOH 2017 Altra 5K. I endured 3.1 miles of soft sand, uphill climbs, twisted rock ledges and j...
  4. ScalerFab Teamwork takes the Podium at the 801rcc Comp in Little Moab, UT Veteran ScalerFab Team Driver Brenda Sumner tells us how Teamwork helped win the Podium at the 801rcc Comp! Weather was perfect- high 40's but no rain. There were 47 entries in the 1.9 class and Mike told us that the course was set up extra long and was challenging. Teammate Brandon Barnson and I decided to stick together through the course with our friend Jeff. We worked as a team and helped each other through gates and tough lines . We found several bonuses and trail items and crossed...
  5. ScalerFab Sponsored Event Recap by: Veteran Team Driver Steve Crotts - 2017 Summer Shootout Series @ Percy Priest Dam Veteran ScalerFab Team Driver Steve Crotts shares his event recap from the 2017 Summer Shootout Series @ Percy Priest Dam, a ScalerFab sponsored series! After a nearly three month layoff from any comps for my local club, January 28th marked the first event of the 2017 season. As with the 2016 season the club's focus is on Class 1 and Class 2 rigs. The club used SORRCA rules and scoring in 2016 but in 2017 they will be following course setup and scoring guidelines according to the SORRCA r...
  6. Product Install: Boom Racing “BaddAss” 1.9 steel wheels So I was wanting some classic 16 hole wheels for my trail rig build. And I came across these “BadAss” wheels from Boom Racing. They fit the bill perfectly! These 1.9 steel wheels had some weight to them, but I knew I would need just a little more. I was also concerned with the fitment of Proline Hyrax tires in their bead lock. I was hoping that this would not be an issue like other wheels. First the packaging on these is top notch. Well-packaged and includes everything needed to get them go...
  7. Cristian Fischer helps you get your maintenance started for that next outing. A helpful checklist for maintaining your rigs. It has been a while, we had lots of rain last month so RC stuff was out. However this month, I have multiple RCs to get ready for Crawlapalooza. In getting ready for a big event, I will tear down every last nut, bolt, and screw of each rig to make sure that they are ready for the carnage to come. It helps us have fewer problems when it counts. My family competes in 1.9 scale comp, 2.2 shafty, and 2.2 pro/mod. Here are few things that I consid...

  10. Fun times and good runs at the Monster Truck Showdown in Rhode Island Sometimes you do better without your truck... Last month I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Monster Showdown in Rhode Island. Only downfall to going is I was unable to bring any scale trucks which, ended up not being so bad, as all they did was a u4 event which my trucks are not set up for. I ran 2.2 mod, 2.2 sporty and borrowed a buddy's mini to be able to run. In 2.2 mod class, truck and driver were working well but I did have 1 minor break on course which cost me a few ...

  13. ScalerFab Team Driver Steve Crotts recounts his runs at the 2017 Summer Shootout Series 2017 SUMMER SHOOTOUT SERIES – EVENT RECAP This past weekend was the third event for my local club's comp series and it was held at Cedars of Lebanon State Park. The day was rather warm for this time of year with temps close to 90 degrees and it made for a muggy hot type of day but a nice day none the less. Class 2 was up first with two 10 gate SORRCA courses. The first gate on Course 1 proved to be tricky and I ended up hitting it while backing up, I thought to myself it’s already goin...
  14. Course that are tough on the rigs and the Drivers pushed this duo to the extreme. Great time had by ScalerFab Team Driver Duo Randy and Tristen Williams in the snake and lizard infested and treacherous terrain of Arkansas. June in the Ozarks. Hot sticky and critters everywhere. We joined the Arkansas RC Crawlers for their 3rd competition in their 2017 series at the beautiful Woolly Hollow State Park just outside of Greenbriar, AR. The weather was perfect after having several of our previous trips canceled, so we made the best of this one. Around a four hour drive through...
  15. ScalerFab Team Driver Chris Leal visits the Butte County Crawler's most recent event. Technical courses, door prizes, food, and all around great time had at the Butte County Scaler's Wild Mountain Wheelin Adventure. Our adventure has us in Concow California this month for Butte County Scaler's crawl "Wild Mountain Wheelin Adventure" with my brother-in-law. It took us about 1 and a half hours to get to this location, and boy was it interesting, it's out behind the small town and down a gravel road for about 20 minutes. It was a beautiful location set up on...
  16. Steve Crotts shows again the protection that ScalerFab Trail Armor offers Durability and sad realization at this - 2017 SUMMER SHOOTOUT SERIES – ROUND #5 event. The 5th event of my local club's comp series was held this past weekend and it was a competitive event. The weather was perfect with mild temps in the 80’s and sunny. The location for this event is held on private property in a creek bed. The creek is active so it has pockets of deep water but offers awesome terrain. Class 2 was up first and consisted of three 10 gate courses, the first course being...
  17. Cristian Fischer treks up North to hang out with his Northern Teammates. My tiny truck adventure with some great ScalerFab Teammates! I took my 1.9 scale and my 2.2 S /2.2 pro rigs on a multi-state adventure with 2 other ScalerFab guys. My 6 am flight out of Love Field in Dallas made for a very early start to the extended weekend. I was picked up at the airport in Minneapolis by Nick Ahrens, a fellow 149 R/C Worx driver. We then made the hour journey across the border to Wisconsin and the home of Adam Nerby (149 R/C Worx owner and fellow ScalerFab tea...
  18. ScalerFab Team Driver Oliver Barber's custom made ScalerFab Bumpers helped his Tiny Tire rig step over the others! Event Recap – Call to Crawl 2017, Event 1 Oliver Barber – 5/23/17 This event was at the same place as one of the Call to Crawl events from the series that I participated in last year, and the quality of the site definitely hasn’t gone down any; in the area we ran, there is everything from rocky trails and grass, to water and an entire sand quarry to drive through. The weather this time was much better than last year; while it was little chilly and it began to rain slightly at the end, it wa...
  19. Steve McColly explains why maintenance is key! Keeping up on maintenance with ScalerFab Team Driver Steve McColly. Keeping up on RC maintenance is crucial to your vehicle's performance. Whether that be a trail truck, a go fast, or a boat. I myself have fallen prey to this recently. My son took his SCX10 out in the rain and didn't bother to say anything and didn't play with it again for 2 months. He finally decided to take it out and play with it one day and came up to me and said dad my motor is heating up after only half...
  20. Deep thought and harsh truth by ScalerFab Team Driver Dave Hall Performance or Not Performance that is the Scale Question. Performance vs scale, it's the argument I constantly see across the rc groups on Facebook and on Instagram. Alot of the time I see it starting with a rc newcomer posting their new rig and asking what upgrades they should buy, what body they should get or what esc/ motor combo they need? They will be told to buy the most expensive parts, get the most flex possible, steer clear of certain setups because they "suck" and so...
